Yorktown Engine Room Experience
Patriots Point, SC
Designed with Brent Johnson Design Inc.

The Engine Room of the USS Yorktown has been open to the public without much interpretation. This project involves installing AV components throughout the multi-storied space to interpret its components and bring life back to the ship.
The way to the Engine Room takes visitors down steep ladders and over exposed grating, difficult for the less nimble to navigate. Fortunately, the Orientation Space is accessable directly from the entrance of the ship. We programed this space with informational graphics and AV pieces to enable people to explore the engine room virtually.

Design tasks include: design detailing, design layout, CAD documentation, existing conditions coordination, audio visual coordination, Audio visiual component housing design and 3D modeling and rendering

Computer rendering of Orientation space.

Rear illuminated graphics and a touchscreen table inform visitors of what is in the engine room below.

Detail drawing of the housing for AV stations located in the engine room.

Plans and elevations locate AV components and cast figures. AV descriptions and simulated screenshots enable contractors to price the final exhibits.
